The S.R. Smith Splash Extended Reach 370-0000 is a 300 lb battery powered ADA compliant pool lift built for pools whose gutter or edge layout calls for a longer reach, and it is sold with its deck anchor socket.

The manufacturer lists the Extended Reach as the Splash version for sites where the water sits farther from the deck edge, and it is rated lower than the other Splash versions, at 300 lb. A third party has tested and verified the Splash series as ADA compliant under section 1009.2 of the 2010 guidelines, which makes it a fit for commercial and community pools that must provide access.

Fit

The stainless steel anchor socket and cover are included. The manufacturer places the socket 12 to 18 in. from the pool edge, and for the Extended Reach the anchor must carry a vertical reaction load of 430 lb and a torque of 1,875 ft lb, so the deck needs to be sound. S.R. Smith requires a completed Deck Profile Sheet with the order.

Power and operation

A 24 V rechargeable battery runs the LiftOperator Intelligent Controller, and a waterproof hand control lets the rider operate the lift alone. The seat rotates 344 degrees. A full battery gives about 30 to 40 lifting cycles, and charging takes up to 12 hours. The lift lifts out of the socket for storage.

The carton holds the battery and charger, a cover for the battery console, the waterproof control, the anchor socket with its cover, and the armrests, footrest and seat belt assembly.

S.R. Smith states the warranty as 5 years on the frame (powder coat excluded), 2 years on the electronics and motor (battery excluded), and 1 year on the battery, prorated. For a California installation, the battery, charger and control box must be the CEC compliant BC versions, and they are not interchangeable with the standard parts.

When should I choose the Extended Reach Splash over the standard one?
Choose it when the deck to water distance is longer than the standard lift covers, for example where the pool edge or gutter layout keeps the seat from reaching the water. The Deck Profile Sheet settles it.

Why is the capacity 300 lb when other Splash lifts are 400 lb?
The manufacturer rates the Extended Reach version at 300 lb. The standard, Hi/Lo and Spa versions are rated at 400 lb.
How do I keep the lift protected between uses?
A mast cover or a mast and seat cover combo shields it from sun and weather, and the optional Caddy holds the lift when it is out of the socket.
