  • For ColorQ testing Made for the ColorQ kit, so the color response matches what the meter expects to read.
  • 60 mL bottle A refill volume rather than the small sample vial, which is what makes it worth stocking.
  • pH channel only This is the pH reagent. Chlorine, alkalinity and hardness each use their own LaMotte reagent.

Product details

This is the LaMotte pH Red indicator, part 7037-H, in a 60 mL bottle. It is the pH reagent used with the ColorQ test kit.

Why reagents get replaced

Test reagents are consumables with a working life. Heat, sunlight and time all weaken them, and a weak indicator does not fail cleanly, it drifts. If your pH readings have started disagreeing with a strip or with a pool store sample, an aging indicator bottle is the usual reason and the cheapest one to rule out.

One reagent, not a kit

This bottle covers the pH test only. Chlorine, alkalinity, hardness and the other ColorQ channels use their own reagents, so restock whichever ones you have run down.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which test does this reagent run?
pH. It is the pH Red indicator, and the other ColorQ tests use their own separate reagents.
How much is in the bottle?
60 mL.
Will it work in my ColorQ?
It is the LaMotte pH Red indicator supplied for ColorQ testing. Check your kit manual for the reagent number it calls for, which is 7037-H.
My pH readings look wrong. Is the reagent the cause?
Often, yes. Reagents lose strength with age, heat and light, and a weak bottle reads off before it stops working. Replacing the indicator is the first thing to try.
