Product details
This is the CompuPool i40 CELL, the replacement salt cell for Infinity Series chlorinators on pools up to 40,000 gallons. It fits the existing installation directly, so nothing has to be recut or replumbed.
Inside the cell
Thirteen long life titanium plates are arranged in what CompuPool calls a high velocity design, which is aimed at a stronger electrolysis process and less frequent cleaning. Rated output is 36 grams of chlorine per hour. The unions and the internal flow path are genuine 2 inch, which keeps flow rate up and limits the back pressure the pump has to work against.
Build and wiring
The housing is impact resistant plastic with UV stabilizers, so it resists cracking and distortion in sun and heat. The cord is attached to the cell itself and the plug is what comes out of the power module. That arrangement keeps the connection away from the cell terminals, where arcing and burning tend to happen on other designs.
Life and warranty
The cell reverses polarity automatically to shed scale from the plates. It carries a 6 year limited warranty. A cell that has stopped producing chlorine, or that reads low salt with the water tested correctly, has usually reached the end of its plate life.
