Quick overview
- Two metals, one kit Tests for both copper and iron rather than one metal at a time.
- Genuine Taylor Taylor kit K-1264, built around Taylor reagents and their comparator system.
- For diagnosing stains Metals are the usual suspect behind green, brown or rust colored staining that will not brush away.
- Confirms before you treat A reading tells you whether a sequestering agent is the right answer or a waste of money.
- Not covered by a strip Copper and iron are outside what a standard chlorine and pH strip reports.
- Reagent refills available Taylor reagents are sold individually, so a used up bottle does not mean a new kit.

Product details
The Taylor K-1264 is a test kit for copper and iron in pool and spa water. It gives you a reading for both metals, which is information a standard chlorine and pH test simply does not provide.
Why metals matter
Copper and iron get into pool water from source water, from corroding equipment, and from some algaecides. They stay invisible until something changes the chemistry, and then they drop out of solution as stains: green or blue for copper, rust brown for iron. Once that happens on plaster, it is a lot of work to remove.
Test first, then treat
Metal problems and algae problems can look similar from the deck, and the treatments are completely different. Running this kit before you dose anything tells you whether you are dealing with dissolved metals at all, and gives you a number to work against when you decide how to handle them.
