Quick overview

  • No test strips The meter reads the sample directly, so there is nothing to buy again and nothing to color match.
  • Onboard sample cup The cup is built into the meter, so a sample is collected and read with one hand.
  • One button reading Fill the cup, press start, read the result.
  • Salt TDS Designed to measure the salt total dissolved solids level in a pool or spa.
  • Seconds, not minutes The reading comes back quickly enough to test at the pool edge.
  • Salt pool ownership Useful for anyone running a salt chlorine generator who needs a real number rather than a shade of color.

Product details

The Solaxx SaltDip is a digital salt reader for pool and spa water. It replaces the guesswork of a color matched strip with a number on a screen, which matters on a salt pool where the generator only makes chlorine properly inside a narrow salt band.

Use is deliberately short. The sample cup is part of the meter, so you dip it, fill it, press the start button, and the reading appears in seconds. There is nothing to pour, time or compare against a chart.

Because it reads the sample electronically there are no strips or reagents to reorder, and no expiry date sitting in the equipment cupboard slowly making your results worse.

Where it earns its keep

Salt drifts as rain dilutes the pool and splash out carries water away, and a cell that is asked to work outside its salt range will report faults and wear faster. Checking salt with a real instrument at each service is the cheap way to protect an expensive cell.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Do I need to buy test strips or reagents?
No. The SaltDip reads the water sample directly, so there is nothing consumable to keep in stock.
How do I take a reading?
Collect water from the pool or spa in the cup built into the meter, press the start button, and read the salt level off the display.
What does it actually measure?
Salt total dissolved solids, the number a salt chlorine generator depends on to make chlorine.
Can I use it on a spa as well as a pool?
Yes. It is meant for pool or spa water taken with the onboard cup.
