The Hayward GLX-SALTMETER is a digital handheld salt meter for pool water. It is battery operated, completely waterproof, has an auto shut off feature and comes in a case for storage.
Why a separate meter is worth having
A salt chlorinator reports a salt level, but that number comes from the cell and the board, not from a direct measurement of the water. A dirty cell or a circuit board error can push the reading off. Owners who trust it add salt that was never needed, and a pool that ends up well over target usually has to be partly drained to bring it back. A handheld meter gives an independent reading before any salt goes in the water.
Using it
There is nothing to install. Switch it on, take the reading, and the auto shut off saves the battery afterwards. The case keeps it dry and in one place between tests.
