The LaMotte P-6743-G is a 30 mL bottle of DPD 3 reagent for chlorine testing. LaMotte lists it as a free chlorine reagent.

What it is for

DPD reagents are the color forming chemistry behind chlorine testing. Drops are added to a measured water sample, the sample takes on a pink shade, and the depth of that color is read against a comparator to give a chlorine reading. Each bottle in the DPD set has a specific place in the sequence.

Buying it on its own

This is a refill bottle rather than a complete kit. Reagents do not last forever: they age, they discolor and they drift, and a tired bottle will quietly give you readings that send you chasing a chemistry problem that is not there. Replacing individual bottles as they run down or expire is cheaper than replacing the kit.
