Product details
The Fiber Clear FCR-009B is a 9 oz bag of cellulose filter media, made from hardwood cellulose fiber, that is used in place of diatomaceous earth in D.E. pool filters.
What it does
Fiber Clear is a natural, organic hardwood-based fiber that is extremely fine. It filters out particles as small as 2 microns, finer than the 4 microns given for diatomaceous earth. It is biodegradable and non-toxic to humans and fish, it can be backwashed safely, and it will not clog drains and sewers. No modification to the filter is needed.
How to use it
Instructions on the back of each bag give the amount to add based on the square feet of filtration area, and explain how to convert a filter from D.E. Fiber Clear is about eight times denser than diatomaceous earth, so one scoop equals about a half-pound of D.E. Each bag includes a 16 oz beverage cup, measured by volume, for scooping.
Where it works
The main use is as a D.E. replacement in swimming pool filters and many spa filters. It is also described as suitable for sand and cartridge filters.
