The Filter Fiber Stuff from Jack's Magic is a fiber filter media supplied here in the 22 lb size, part number JMFIBER22. It goes into a DE filter as a safe alternative to diatomaceous earth, and it also improves what sand and cartridge filters catch.
Why less goes further
Charging a DE filter with fiber takes under half the amount, by weight, that DE needs for the same filter. A 22 lb container therefore covers a lot more cleanings than the same weight of DE, and the product is non toxic, so handling and storing it at the pad is straightforward.
Dosing
In a DE filter, add one DE scoop of fiber for every 12 square feet of filter area. In a cartridge filter, add three ounces by weight per 25 square feet of filter area. In a sand filter, add three ounces by weight at a time, with a maximum addition of nine ounces by weight.
Where it helps most
Sand filters pass fine particles that a fiber charge will hold, and a cartridge that is clean but no longer polishing the water will pick up noticeably with a small dose. Start at the low end of the range and add more only if the water still is not clearing.
