It skips the overnight soak
The usual way to clean a filter element properly is to drop it in a bucket of cleaner and leave it overnight, which means the pool runs on a spare element or does not run at all. Power Blue is a spray on cleaner instead: apply it, let it sit for four minutes, then hose it off. The element goes back the same afternoon.
What it removes
It degreases as it cleans, so it takes off the oils and contaminants that build into the pleats and the grid fabric. That is the difference between an element that looks clean and one that actually flows again. The result is longer filter cycles and better filtration between cleanings.
One tip
On a cartridge, let it air dry after you hose it off. It is a small step and it noticeably improves the finished result.
