Quick overview
- Gold tip The sensing tip is gold, the version listed for salt pool duty.
- Made for salt water Intended for pools running a salt chlorine generator.
- ORP measurement Reads oxidation reduction potential, the value a controller uses to judge sanitizer activity.
- Direct replacement IPS Controllers part number SXORPG, a straight swap for the sensor already in the system.
- Platinum tip sold separately IPS also lists an ORP sensor with a platinum tip as its own part number.
- Restores dosing accuracy A probe that has drifted makes the controller feed on bad information, and a fresh sensor puts that right.

Product details
The IPS Controllers SXORPG is a replacement ORP sensor with a gold sensing tip, the version listed for salt pools.
What the sensor does
A chemical controller decides when to feed sanitizer from what its ORP probe reports. Oxidation reduction potential is a measure of how actively the water is sanitizing, not a chlorine count, so the controller leans on the probe being honest. As a sensor ages the readings drift, and the controller keeps dosing to a number that is no longer real.
Choosing the right tip
IPS lists this sensor with a gold tip for salt pools and a separate sensor with a platinum tip. They are different part numbers, so match the tip to what the system was built with. The pH sensor, SXPH, is a separate item again.
