What the flow cell does
The flow cell holds a slow, steady sample of pool water in front of the controller sensors. The top section carries the threaded ports the probes screw into, which is what keeps them in the sample stream and sealed against the outside.
When to replace it
A cracked port, a stripped thread or a persistent weep around a probe is the usual reason. Any of those let air into the sample and leave the controller dosing on bad readings.
