Pentair 522651 is a 5 pack of Stenner 10 GPD pump tubes for the IntelliChem chemical controller.

Why the tube is a consumable

A Stenner feed pump has no impeller and no seals in the chemical path. Rollers press on a flexible tube and walk the liquid along it, which is what makes the pump safe with aggressive chemistry. That same squeezing is what wears the tube out, so the tube is a scheduled replacement and everything around it lasts far longer.

Catching it before it splits

Output falls off gradually before a tube fails outright. The controller keeps calling for chemical it is no longer actually delivering, and the pool chemistry drifts while every reading on the panel looks normal. Changing the tube on a schedule avoids both that and the mess of a rupture inside the pump housing.
