Why the tube is the part that fails

In a feed pump the tube is squeezed against a housing over and over to move liquid. That is the whole job, and it is why the tube is the component that wears while everything around it stays fine. As it flattens or hardens, less liquid moves per turn. The controller has no way to know, so it keeps calling for the same run time and the water chemistry quietly drifts.
