Product details

The Hayward CAX-20253 is a Speedfit connector joining 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch tubing, listed as the replacement connector for Hayward CAT controllers and CAT 1000 monitors. It is supplied one per carton.

What it does

Chemical controllers sample water through small bore tubing, and the sample line runs through a series of push fit connections between the flow cell, the sensors and the plumbing. This is the reducing fitting where 1/4 inch tubing meets 3/8 inch.

Push fit connections

Speedfit fittings need no tools, no clamps and no solvent. The tube is cut square and pushed in until it seats, and an internal collet grips it. That simplicity is also the reason they are worth keeping spares of: collets lose their bite over time and with chemical exposure, and a fitting that has stopped gripping will drip or draw air into the sample line.
