The IPS Controllers ORP Sensor with Platinum Tip, SXORP, is the yellow top ORP sensor for non-salt pools and spas, and it feeds oxidation reduction potential readings to an IPS controller. IPS Controllers lists it as the ORP Probe with a platinum tip.
What ORP tells the controller
ORP is oxidation reduction potential, a measure of how effectively the sanitizer in the water is working. The controller reads it through this sensor and doses accordingly, so the sensor you choose has to suit the water it sits in.
Yellow top or green top
IPS colors the caps to keep the two ORP sensors apart. The yellow top SXORP, with its platinum tip, is for pools that are not salt chlorinated. Salt pools use the green top SXORPG, which IPS Controllers lists as the ORP probe with a gold tip for salt pools. IPS also lists an exchange version of the gold tip probe, written SXORPG-EX on its site, offered with a new controller purchase.
