The Hayward W3PRO25-2 is the Pro Series 2 year ORP sensor with a 24 inch cable, built for Hayward CAT controllers. It is the factory original Hayward part and it replaces the earlier PRO25-2.
What the sensor does
ORP stands for oxidation reduction potential. It is not a measure of how much sanitizer is in the water but of how hard that sanitizer is working, which is the number a controller needs in order to decide when to feed. The probe sits in a flow cell in the sample line and reports continuously.
When to replace it
ORP probes are consumable. The sensing surface ages, the response slows and the reading drifts, usually gradually enough that the controller keeps dosing to a number that no longer means what it did. If a probe will not hold calibration after cleaning, it is finished. This one is rated as a 2 year sensor.
