J&J Electronics PureWhite LED Pool Light SwimQuip Series, 120V Cool White 500W Equivalent, 100 ft Cord, LPL-F3W-120-100-PSQ, 21048

The J&J Electronics PureWhite LED pool light, part 21048 and model LPL-F3W-120-100-PSQ, is the SwimQuip version of J&J's Hi output fixture. It runs on 120 volts, comes with a 100 ft cord, and is built to drop into a Sta-Rite SwimQuip wet niche in place of a 500W incandescent light.

The light

The fixture draws 58 watts and puts out 3,900 lumens of cool white at 6500K. That daylight white makes pool water look clearer and cleaner than the yellow of an old lamp, and it suits dark finish pools too. A tempered glass lens spreads the output evenly, so you see lit water rather than a grid of bright points. J&J rates the LEDs up to 50,000 hours, about 20 times an incandescent, on up to 90 percent less energy.

Fitting a SwimQuip niche

The PSQ faceplate puts the pilot screw 8 in. from the catch tab to match SwimQuip niches. At 10.5 in. across it is larger than the standard SwimQuip faceplate, so the wall around the niche needs to be flat far enough out for it to sit flush. The compact fixture depth keeps the bottom catch visible from the deck.

Build

Heavy gauge 316 polished stainless steel, a Guardian silicone lens gasket, a nickel plated brass strain relief with a sealing gland, and a fully encapsulated housing base. The fixture is ETL listed and assembled in the USA. It runs from the existing light switch with no controller, and a licensed electrician or qualified pool professional installs it to the National Electrical Code.
