The LaMotte 7037-G is a 30 mL bottle of phenol red indicator, the reagent LaMotte pool water test kits use to read pH.
How it is used
Phenol red is a color indicator. Added to a measured water sample, it turns a shade that corresponds to the pH of that sample, and you read it against the comparator block or color chart supplied with your kit. It is one of the two readings, along with chlorine, that most operators take every time they test.
Buying the refill
Reagents run out at different rates, and there is no reason to replace a whole kit because one bottle is empty. This is the phenol red on its own in the standard 30 mL size. The DPD reagents for free chlorine are separate LaMotte items in the same size if those need topping up at the same time.
A note on storage
Reagents do not last forever. A bottle that has been sitting in a hot pump room or is well past its date can read off, and that sends people chasing a chemistry problem the pool does not have. Keep reagents cool and out of the sun, and replace them on a schedule.
