The AutoPilot PPC4 is a replacement salt chlorine generator cell supplied complete with its unions. It is listed to work with the AutoPilot Digital control with CoPilot XL and the PPC4 manifold.
What the cell does
Water from the return line passes through the cell, and the plates inside convert the dissolved salt into chlorine that goes straight back to the pool. Production follows the flow through the plumbing, so the cell keeps a residual in the water for as long as the pump is running and the plates are healthy.
When to replace
Cells are consumable. The plates lose coating with use and output tapers off, and eventually the pool will not hold a chlorine residual even with the salt level and run time correct. Cleaning buys back some production while there is still coating left, but a cell that will not produce after cleaning is finished.
Before you order
AutoPilot builds several cells in the PPC series and they are not interchangeable. Read the number on the cell you are taking out and match it, and confirm your manifold and control are the PPC4 pairing.
