Product details

The Hayward W3GLX-CELL-5 is the AquaTrol TurboCell with a 15 foot cord. It is the current part for what used to be sold as the Goldline T-CELL-5, and it is the same cell, so an AquaTrol owner replacing a worn T-CELL-5 orders this.

What the cell does

Salt water passes through the cell and the plates inside convert dissolved salt into chlorine, which sanitizes the pool and reverts to salt again. That cycle is why a salt pool needs no tabs or liquid chlorine in normal service, and it is also why the cell is a wear part: the plates lose output over years of use, and a pool that will not hold a chlorine reading despite correct salt levels usually has a tired cell.

Fit

This cell was designed for above ground pools, though it is commonly fitted to inground pools too. Beyond AquaTrol systems, it is listed as the replacement for the Mineral Springs MS-20 and MS-21 and for the SplashCLEAR SP-18.

Sizing

It is listed for 20,000 gallon pools, and a rating up to 22,000 gallons also appears. If your pool is close to that number, stepping up a size is worth considering. A cell that has to run flat out every day to hold a reading will not last as long as one with headroom.

Yes. The T-CELL-5 is no longer available, and the GLX-CELL-5 is the same cell under the current part number.
