What the humps do
The raised humps around the tire give the cleaner something to bite on when it meets a step, a main drain lid, a light niche or a sharp transition from floor to wall. On a smooth tire the cleaner slides, spins and turns away, leaving whole sections of the pool untouched. The taller hump catches the edge and pulls the cleaner over it.
