The H2Flow Controls FlowVis FV-15 puts a pool flow meter and a check valve in one valve body sized for 1-1/2 inch Schedule 40 PVC. The scale is read in gallons per minute and also carries scales for key velocity points.
Why a flow reading matters
Every calculation about turnover starts with actual flow rate. Filter sizing, heater minimums, sanitizer dwell time and turnover all reference GPM, and without a meter that number is an estimate based on the pump label rather than on what the plumbing is really doing.
Variable speed pumps in particular
A variable speed pump saves money by running slowly, but only down to the speed that still turns the water over. Read the meter at each speed and you can find that point deliberately instead of guessing at it, then leave the pump there.
One fitting instead of two
Because the check valve is built into the same body, the FV-15 can take the place of the check valve already in the run rather than adding another fitting and another pressure drop to the equipment pad.
