Product details

The Pentair R141036 is a sinking pool thermometer: a tube thermometer set in a molded ABS case with a 3 foot cord. It is the simplest way to know what the water actually is doing.

Why a sinking thermometer

Sunlight warms the top inch of a pool well beyond the temperature of the water a swimmer is in. A thermometer that floats reads that layer. This one sinks, so the number on the scale is the temperature of the body of water, which is what matters when deciding whether to run the heater or open the pool.

Build and use

The ABS case takes the abuse a pool thermometer gets: sun, chlorine, and being knocked against the wall. The 3 foot cord lets you tie it to a ladder, handrail or the skimmer so it stays in one place instead of drifting to the far end. There are no batteries and no display to fail.
