The Moov MI650 is a full inverter, variable speed pool heat pump rated at 65,000 BTU and listed for pools up to 18,000 gallons. It runs on single phase 208-230V, 60Hz.
What the inverter changes
A conventional heat pump has one compressor speed. It runs at full output until the water reaches the set point, shuts off, and starts again later. The MI650 varies its compressor from 20 percent to 100 percent, so it can heat hard when the gap is large and then throttle back to hold temperature. Moov points to lower operating cost and better accuracy as the result, and a compressor that spends most of its life below full load is under less stress.
Defrosting
The unit defrosts with a reversible valve, running in the opposite direction to its usual cycle. Moov describes this as the best approach at low temperatures because the frost clears quickly and the unit gets back to heating sooner.
Sizing and power
Match the model to the pool volume. The MI650 covers up to 18,000 gallons; larger and smaller units in the same Moov inverter range cover other volumes. Check that single phase 208-230V, 60Hz service is available at the pad before ordering.
