What a pool cooler does

In hot climates a pool can hold heat through the night and sit at bath water temperature for weeks. A cooler works the opposite way to a heater: pool water is routed through the unit on the return side, gives up heat, and comes back cooler. Over a normal filtration run that pulls the whole body of water down.

Sizing

The listing describes it as suiting pools up to 45,000 gallons, while the manufacturer spec line quotes a 40,000 to 60,000 gallon range. Both figures are carried here on purpose. Check your pool volume and the climate you are cooling against the manufacturer sizing before you commit, since a cooler that is undersized for a hot region will simply run without gaining ground.

What size pool is the Glacier GPC-215 pool chiller for?
Pools under 45,000 gallons, by Glacier, at a nominal 45 GPM. The GPC-210 is for pools under 30,000.
How does the Glacier GPC-215 cool a pool?
With a fan and the pool's own water, and no refrigerant. Spray arms driven by the pool water turn inside the cabinet, the fan pulls air through the falling water, and a small pump on a float switch returns the cooled water to the pool in cycles.
How many degrees will a Glacier GPC-215 cool a pool?
Glacier gives an average of 10 to 15 degrees F over an overnight run of 12 to 14 hours for its residential units, and says it varies with sun, exposure, plaster color and depth.
