What it does

The drive shaft carries power through the drive train so the cleaner keeps climbing and covering the pool. When it wears, the symptom is a cleaner that stalls, loses traction or drives unevenly even though the water supply and wheels look fine. It is commonly replaced along with the gearbox and brushes when the drive is rebuilt.
