The Anderson DT601 is a pre-filled dye leak tester for finding where a pool is losing water. It arrives ready to use, with no dye to mix or load.
How it is used
A dye test works on the fact that water going out through a leak pulls whatever is next to it along. With the pump off and the water as still as you can get it, release a small amount of dye beside a suspected spot and watch. If there is a leak there, the dye moves toward it and disappears into it. If it just drifts and disperses, move on to the next candidate.
Where to look
Work through the places that fail most often before opening anything up: liner seams and creases, the skimmer throat, the light niche and its conduit, return fittings, steps and any place the structure changes. Anderson offers a dye refill separately, so the tester keeps earning its place after the first hunt.
