Product details
Jack's Multilube in a 1 oz. size, listed under Hayward part number SP032712. It is the small tube of lubricant kept on hand for pool seal work.
Why o-rings need it
Every removable lid on a pool system seals on an o-ring: the pump strainer pot, unions, filter and feeder caps. Left dry, those rings grip the housing, stretch when the lid is turned and eventually tear, which turns a routine basket clean into a leak and a parts order. A lubricated ring slides, seats evenly and comes back apart next time.
Using it
Wipe the o-ring and its groove clean first, then work a thin film over the ring with your fingers. That is all it needs. Extra lubricant does not improve the seal, it just collects grit that will chew the ring.
