Product details

Pentair R172351 is the Lifeguard silicone lubricant, supplied in a 3/4 oz bottle. It is made for the rubber seals, gaskets and O-rings that sit against plastic and metal in pool equipment.

Where it belongs

Pentair recommends it for filters, pumps, chlorinators and valves, which are the places on a pool pad where corrosion takes hold and where a seal has to be opened and closed repeatedly. Lubricating the connecting parts extends the life of the rubber and helps stop O-rings and seals cracking as they age.

Why it stops leaks

Most nuisance leaks at a pump lid, a filter clamp or a union are a dry O-ring problem rather than a broken part. Without lubrication the ring drags, twists and rolls out of its groove as the fitting is tightened. A thin film lets it slide into place and seat evenly, so the joint seals the way it did when the equipment was new.

The 3/4 oz bottle is a service size. A small amount goes a long way on an O-ring, so one bottle covers a season of routine filter and pump work.

What can I use this on?

How much is in the bottle?

Will it damage my O-rings?
