Where it goes
The lid o-ring gets the most benefit. That seal is opened and closed every time the feeder is loaded, and a dry o-ring drags, pinches and eventually leaks. A thin film of silicone lets it seat evenly, holds the seal under pressure, and stops the lid from bonding to the body after a season in the sun. The internal o-rings that get handled during service want the same treatment.
Silicone, not grease
