The Life Essentials CRK542-U is the Swimsafe USA MKII leaf shovel, a hand tool for lifting settled debris out of a pool.

Where a shovel beats a net

Once leaves sink and start to sit on the floor, a surface skimmer net is the wrong tool. A shovel is built to get under a load of wet leaves and lift it clear of the water in one pass, which is the difference between clearing a pool after a storm in a few minutes and pushing debris around for an hour.

Why bother by hand

Every leaf you pull out yourself is one that never reaches the pump basket or the filter. After heavy leaf fall, taking the bulk out with a shovel first is what keeps the rest of the system from clogging.
