Product details

The Raypak H000002 is the 10 kohm temperature sensor for the R5350, R6350 and R8350 pool heaters. It is the genuine Raypak part.

What it does

The heater reads water temperature from this sensor and uses it to hold the set point and to enforce its limits. Everything the control does about temperature rests on what the sensor reports, which is why a failing one produces symptoms that look far more serious than they are.

Diagnosing it

A reading that never changes, jumps around, or sits well away from a thermometer in the water usually means the sensor. Check it before condemning the control board, since a sensor is a fraction of the cost and a much simpler job.

Matching the part

Order by model and by rating. This is the 10 kohm version for the R5350, R6350 and R8350, and a sensor built to a different resistance curve will report the wrong temperature even when it plugs straight in.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which heaters does this fit?
The Raypak R5350, R6350 and R8350.
What does 10 kohm mean?
It is the sensor rating. Heaters are built around a specific resistance curve, so a sensor with a different rating will report the wrong temperature even if it plugs in.
Is it a genuine Raypak part?
Yes, part number H000002.
How do I know the sensor is the problem?
Readings that sit fixed, swing wildly or read far from an actual thermometer point at the sensor. It is worth ruling out before suspecting the control board.
