The Raypak H000078 is the OEM low pressure switch for the 2350, 3350, 4350, 5350, 6350 and 8350 heat pump pool heaters. It is a small part with an outsized job.
What it protects
A heat pump moves heat with a refrigerant circuit, and running the compressor with too little suction pressure damages it. The low pressure switch sits on that side of the circuit and opens the control path before the pressure gets there, shutting the unit down instead of letting it grind on.
When to replace it
Repeated low pressure lockouts are the usual reason people arrive at this part. The switch itself can fail and report a fault that is not real. Before you swap it, it is worth having the actual refrigerant pressures read, because a true low charge is a leak that needs finding, not a switch.
