The Raypak 100-10000816 is the genuine water bypass for the Crosswind V pool heat pump.

What it does

A heat pump needs the right amount of water moving through its heat exchanger. Send everything through and the system flow drops; send too little and the water leaves barely warmer than it went in. The bypass splits the incoming flow so part of it passes through the exchanger and the rest goes around, which is what lets a single pump serve both the filter loop and the heater properly.

When it is the problem

Look at the bypass when the unit runs but never reaches temperature, when the pressure drop across the heater has changed noticeably, or when the housing itself is cracked or weeping. Adjustment that will not hold is another sign the internals have gone.
