The Raypak H000011 is the liquid line drier for the Raypak 5200, 6200, 8200 and 6300 heat pump pool heaters. It is the genuine Raypak part for those units.
What the drier does
A heat pump moves heat by circulating refrigerant through a sealed loop. The drier sits in the liquid line and acts as the loop cleanup point, holding the moisture and fine debris that circulate after a repair or after a component failure. Left unchecked, that moisture reaches the metering device, freezes at the orifice and starves the evaporator, which shows up as poor heating and short cycling.
Before you order
Fitting a drier means opening the sealed refrigerant circuit, which is EPA certified work. Have a qualified heat pump technician recover the charge, braze in the new drier, evacuate and recharge. Standard practice is to fit a fresh drier every time the circuit has been opened, so it is worth having this on hand before the service call.
