The Raypak H000051 is the genuine capacitor for the 8350, 9350, 9353 and 8320ti heat pump pool heaters, rated 80 MFD at 440 VAC and specified for three phase units.
Why it matters
The capacitor stores and releases the energy the compressor motor needs to get moving and to keep running smoothly. It is a wear item: heat, hours and voltage swings degrade it long before the compressor or the coil reach the end of their lives. When it goes, the heat pump usually still has power and still calls for heat, but the compressor hums, draws hard, or refuses to start at all.
Fitting it
Replace like for like. A capacitor with a different microfarad value or voltage rating will not run the motor properly and can shorten its life. Capacitors also hold a charge after the disconnect is pulled, so leave the swap to a qualified service technician.
