Raypak Genuine OEM Protek Shield Module Assembly

The Raypak 017960F is the replacement Protek Shield module for Raypak pool heaters. It is the genuine Raypak part.

What it does

Pool water attacks metal, and salt pools attack it faster. The Protek Shield is sacrificial: it erodes over the season so the heater does not. Seeing the shield worn down when you pull it is the sign it has been protecting the heat exchanger and other wetted parts.

Replace it every year

Raypak recommends annual replacement. The module is compact and swaps out in a few minutes, so it belongs on the same spring checklist as cleaning the filter. It is designed for both chlorinated and saltwater pools.

Before you order

This is the replacement module for heaters that already have the Protek Shield installed. If your heater does not have one yet, you need the adapter retrofit kit instead.
