Auto reset, not a fuse

This thermostat opens when the surface it senses reaches its set point and closes again once the temperature drops back into range. That behavior is what separates it from a thermal cut off fuse, which opens once and then has to be thrown away. A thermostat that will not close again, or that never opens, has failed and needs replacing.
