The Raypak 004078F is the pilot tube, the short gas line that runs from the valve outlet to the pilot burner. It is the genuine Raypak part.
The fault it fixes
A heater that will not light, or that lights and drops out, is often chased through igniters and valves when the pilot is simply not getting a clean gas supply. A tube that has been kinked during past service, crushed against the burner tray, or cracked at a flare will do exactly that.

What does the pilot tube actually do?
It is the small gas line between the valve and the pilot burner. If it is kinked, cracked or crushed, the pilot cannot get the gas it needs and the heater will not light or will not hold.
Does it come with the pilot assembly?
No. This is the tube only. Raypak pilot assemblies, both propane and natural gas, are separate part numbers.
Can I fit this myself?
Anything on the gas train should be done by a qualified gas technician and leak tested afterward. It is a small part, but it is still a gas connection.
