Product details

The Raypak 600525B is the natural gas pilot with generator for millivolt heaters. The pilot burner and its thermogenerator come as a single assembly, and this is the new genuine Raypak part.

What a millivolt pilot does

A millivolt heater has no outside power source. The standing pilot flame heats the generator, and the tiny voltage that produces is what holds the gas valve open and runs the controls. It is an elegant arrangement while it works, and completely unforgiving once the generator weakens: the heater will light while the button is held, then shut down the moment it is released, or refuse to hold at all.

Because the pilot and the generator are supplied together, replacing the assembly settles which of the two had failed rather than leaving you to test and guess.

What is the generator part of it?

My heater lights and then goes out. Is this the part?

That is the classic weak generator symptom on a millivolt system. The pilot stays lit while the button is held and drops out when it is released, because the generator can no longer hold the valve.
