Raypak Genuine OEM Return Header with Gaskets, 006707F

The Raypak 006707F is the genuine return header for Raypak pool heaters, supplied complete with its gaskets. Raypak lists it for models 206A through 406A in the Versa II and Millivolt families.

What the header does

The heat exchanger in a Raypak heater is a bundle of finned copper tubes between two headers. Pool water enters at one end, travels the tube bundle over the burner, and leaves through the return header. The header is therefore a pressure part in constant contact with pool water, and it is what fails when the water chemistry has been wrong for a long stretch.

When to replace it

Low pH, high calcium or a heater run at too high a flow rate all attack the header. The symptoms are a weeping seam, a visible crack, or water in the burner tray with no obvious tube leak. Once a header is cracked it does not come back, and running the heater on a leaking header pushes water onto the burners.

Ordering

Check that the failure is on the return end and not the inlet header before you order, since the two are different parts. Gaskets are included with this header.
