Raypak 010088F Genuine OEM Refractory Common, Left & Right (Both Sides)

Raypak 010088F is the genuine OEM common refractory for the left and right sides of the heater, supplied for both sides. Raypak lists it for the 206A, 266A and 336A pool heaters.

What refractory does

Refractory is the insulating wall that stands between the burner flame and the rest of the heater. It holds heat where it belongs, in the combustion chamber and against the heat exchanger, and it keeps that heat off the cabinet and the components around it. Every time the heater fires, the refractory takes the full swing from cold to combustion temperature and back.

When to replace it

That heat cycling is what eventually breaks it up. Crumbling edges, cracks running through a panel, or pieces sitting loose in the bottom of the chamber all mean the refractory is no longer doing its job. Left alone, a heater running with broken refractory puts heat into places that were never meant to see it.
