What it replaces
The membrane is the printed layer you actually touch when you change temperature or switch between pool and spa. Behind the graphics sit the contacts that pass your press through to the control board. That layer lives outdoors, takes sun and heat all season, and is normally the first part of the control panel to fail.
When to fit one
Buttons that need a hard press, buttons that trigger the wrong function, or a decal that has cracked and started lifting at the edges all point at the membrane rather than the board. Replacing this kit is far cheaper than replacing control electronics, so it is worth ruling out first.
