Product details
The Raypak 062237B is the genuine OEM pressure switch for the model 185A, 265A, 335A and 405A pool heaters. The source also carries it with the RP2100 gas heaters, R185A through R405A, built between 1993 and 1998.
What the switch is for
A gas pool heater has to know that water is moving through it before the burner lights. The pressure switch is that proof. It senses the pressure the pump develops across the heater and closes to allow the ignition sequence. If the pump is off, the filter is loaded or a valve is shut, the switch stays open and the heater refuses to fire. That refusal is the switch doing its job.
Diagnosing it
When a heater will not light, work through the flow first: pump running, filter clean, valves open, water level up. Once flow is genuinely good and the heater still will not fire, a failed pressure switch is a very common cause and a straightforward part to change.
One warning
Do not jumper the switch to force a heater to run. Firing without proven flow is how heat exchangers are destroyed, and the repair costs many times what the switch does.

What does the pressure switch do?
It proves water flow. Until it senses enough pressure through the heater, the control will not let the burner fire, which is what stops the heater from running dry.
