Choosing an epoxy

Coating types do not mix. Epoxy bonds to bare prepared surfaces and to sound existing epoxy, but it will not hold over a rubber based or acrylic paint, and applying it that way ends in lifting and peeling. If nobody knows what is currently on the pool, test before you commit to the material.

Before you order

Work out the surface area of your pool and check it against the coverage figure on the container so you buy enough for the full job in one batch. Follow the manufacturer instructions on the container for preparation, mixing, application and cure time.

What size is this?
One gallon.
Can I put it over my existing pool paint?
Only if the existing coating is also epoxy and is sound. Epoxy applied over a rubber based or acrylic paint will not bond and will lift. If you do not know what is on the pool, a solvent test or a test patch is the safe way to find out.
How many gallons will my pool take?
That depends on the surface area and how porous the shell is, so work it out from your own measurements and the coverage rate on the container.
What color is it?
