The AquaStar 4DIV103 is a 4 in. adjustable floor return fitting with a water stop built in. It handles flow up to 80 GPM, and its diverter plate fits Pentair and Sta-Rite.
Adjustable and stopped
Adjustable means the outlet can be aimed, so the returned water is directed across the pool rather than straight up out of the floor. That is how you get circulation into the corners where debris settles. The water stop is part of the same fitting, and it keeps the return line from draining back through the outlet every time the pump shuts down.
A return, not a drain
This is the one thing to be clear about before it goes in the ground. AquaStar states that it is not to be used as a suction outlet. A return pushes water into the pool. A suction outlet pulls water out, and it has to meet an entirely different set of safety requirements. Do not substitute one for the other.
