The AquaStar SKWD101 is the Flow Star weir plate assembly in white, supplied with two weir clip locks. It fits standard skimmers as well as vinyl and fiberglass skimmers.
What the weir does
The weir is the hinged flap sitting in the throat of the skimmer. While the pump runs it lifts, and the narrow gap it creates speeds up the surface water so leaves and film get pulled in rather than drifting past. When the pump shuts off, the weir falls closed and traps everything already in the basket instead of letting it wash straight back into the pool.
Why it is worth replacing
Weirs take sun and chemicals for years, and they end up cracked, warped, or simply gone after someone lifts the lid to clear the basket. A pool that used to keep a clean surface and now does not is very often just a missing or broken weir, which makes this one of the cheapest fixes on the equipment pad.
