Product details

The AquaStar SKWD105 is the Flow Star weir plate assembly in dark gray, supplied with two weir clip locks. It measures 8-3/8 inches high by 5-1/8 inches wide and is listed for standard skimmers as well as vinyl and fiberglass skimmers.

What the weir is doing

The weir is the hinged flap at the mouth of the skimmer. It holds a shallow, fast moving layer of water across the throat, which is what pulls leaves, bugs and oils in and stops them washing back out when the pump shuts down. It is a small plastic part carrying a large share of how well the pool surface stays clean.

When it needs changing

Weirs go stiff, crack at the hinge, or simply disappear. The symptom is usually the same: debris sitting on the surface all day while the skimmer basket stays empty. Replacing the weir restores the skimming action without touching anything else in the system.

Measure the skimmer throat against the 8-3/8 by 5-1/8 inch dimensions before ordering, since skimmer openings vary between manufacturers.
