Product details
The SuperPro 940 is a spring loaded skimmer weir measuring 9 3/8 inches long, 5 1/4 inches wide and 1 1/8 inches thick. The foam float is included.
What the weir does
The weir is the hinged flap in the mouth of the skimmer. It floats up to the surface and accelerates the thin top layer of water into the basket, which is where leaves, pollen and oils sit. When a weir cracks, sticks or goes missing, surface debris drifts back out into the pool between pump cycles and the skimmer stops earning its keep.
Installing it
This weir is sprung, and it ships compressed with a plastic line running through it to hold the spring. Seat the weir in the skimmer throat first and only then pull the line. Releasing the spring early makes the part awkward to fit and can pop it out of your hands.
Before you order
Check the three measurements against the weir you are replacing. Skimmer throats vary between makes, and a weir that is a quarter inch out will either bind or sit loose.
